A Merry Working Christmas & New Year 2020 Too All
It's that time of year again where we indulge ourselves a bit too much. However, we should think of others before ourselves. I find myself doing both this year. Got a job! I must be one of the few Autism working people. Got gifts for me, but given some homeless guys a treat. I don't give money. It sorts out the people who really need help. When one came over and asked,'Any chance of a coffee and tea for me'n'my mate?'. 'I think can do better than that lads', I said with a grin. We went to a take-out and fisn'n'chips bar. The look on their faces when I said, 'Pick anything you want off the menu guys.' One whom they call 'H' replied, 'You sure mate?'. 'Total sure', I said with a smile. I told them just a few months ago had no job. Unlikely to get a job because of being on the 'autism spectrum'. Eating out of soup kitchens because they have cut welfare/benefits in the UK. However, got employment by a company had the policy of if you can do the job, not what you are. So sharing out my good fortune around. 'Errr ok, thanks', 'H' says with nervus bad teeth smile. They walked away with burger'n'fries and 'H' got a bag of 'fish'n'chips'. Add drinks to that of course.
You likely asking dear reader any more details of getting this job? Not that much more. One thing the company went for was if you were a Uni/college graduate. No matter what you graduated in. Done allot of computer admin courses. This is one thing they wanted. You are working on PCs all day. I was starting to think my degree had no value. Mainly did the degree to show on paper I'm not stupid. After all these years I found a company thought the same way. It gave a good feeling seeing one of the other new starters was in a wheelchair. Show the company had an open mind. They're willing to give people a try. This job is not going to be forever. Maybe give me the chance to save money and do something else.
I guess the outcome is as the wheel of fortune turns don't give up. You don't know truly where the pointer will land.
This also means I'll not be updating this blog as often. My job givens me little time but for weekends. As I'm on PCs all week, like a break from them at the weekend. I'd prefer to spend time with friends and other interests. So this blog will be updated as and when got something interested to share. Likely to be back when my contract finishes in the summer. Unlit then best wishes and fortune to all.
