‘Simple Pleasures’, Sequential Poetry With Mum Part 1

Forward; Writing with mum

When my mum was alive we use to write poetry together. You heard of sequential storytelling? One person starts the first line and the other person does the next. We did that with poetry. Below is one of those poems and short stories. What is more, I have a book of short stories and poems coming out with some of our work.  If you enjoy my writing and live near Liverpool UK come to my book launch.

How for the poem '‘Simple Pleasures’ by Dorothy Taggart. Edited by Mr. Alex Richard (Attenkofer) Taggart BA(hons)

I love the sea and the sky at night,
The stars and the moon that spread its light,

I love the dawn at the break of day,
And the owl’s last hoof as if flies away,

I love the flowers with their sweet perfume,
A roaring fire in a chilly room,

I love the show and the spanking ice,
A warming drink which smells of spice,

I love the tinsel on the Christmas tree,
And pleasant thoughts that come to me,

I love to hear music low and sweet,
The feel of grass beneath my feet,

I love to daydream in the sun,
And go to rest when the day is done.
But most of all it must surely be,
I love the arms that comfort me.
